Role Purpose
To develop and drive Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) Consumer Business Unit strategy, in line with corporate goals, market demand, competitive landscape and regulation policies; to monitor marketing, sales and customer care strategies which deliver a dominant market share, drive sales and achieve best-in-class customer experience.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Strategy DevelopmentReview and validate Omantel strategic and business planning process and provide advice and recommendation to corporate strategyDevelop and monitor Consumer strategic and business planEstablish target setting goals and validate Consumer Business Unit scorecardDrive design of overall consumer strategy in coordination with Business and Functional UnitsSupport corporate business goals by providing input and ensuring adherence to operating budget for Consumer UnitContribute key insights to annual financial planning and budgeting process and provide advice and recommendation to Omantel annual financial plan, budget and budget control reportProvide support and input to Business Development Unit and new ventures including strategic partnerships and alliances, and execution of merger and acquisition activitiesParticipate in approval and decision making processes for all new products proposals with the Corporate Management TeamBudgetingReview annual financial planning and budgeting processEnsure adherence to operating budgetLead and provide valuable input to budget planning activity for the organizationCommunicate strategies that result in positive financial impact for the organization and mitigates financial and operational risksAuthorize inputs to funding, expense, cash flow and budgetary controlsSalesOversee the design of annual sales plans and strategies for indirect channels (dealers and agents) and direct retail operationsOversee the development of sales promotions in collaboration with Omantel’s resellers and dealersWork closely with GM Marketing to develop, establish, and direct channel and distribution strategies and programsDirect the management of retail outlets and ensure quality maintenance of outlets and peripheral systemsCustomer CareOversee the efficient and effective management of the Customer Care Division by monitoring customer satisfaction and verifying overall performance against service standardsLead initiatives aimed at improving performance through the development of established policies and proceduresProvide direction for the establishment of high-quality customer service for all Consumer and Corporate first and second line support queriesDrive development of customer retention programsMarketingOversee the design of annual marketing plans and strategies for Consumer products and servicesEnsure the formulation of marketing plans aimed at increasing market share and maximize revenue and retain customersMonitor service portfolio management and ensure all products and services are in line with market requirementsOversee product development, product pricing, new technological requirements and execution of business casesEnsure the management of products through their life cycle and evaluate success of products in the marketEnsure that refurbishment projects are selected strategically and in line with the corporate strategyEndorse corporate advertising campaigns, corporate brand specification, corporate sponsorships and corporate eventsPeople ManagementMotivate General Managers and empower direct reports by providing the necessary tools and support required to support Unit goalsPlan, manage, and review individual performance and provide regular feedback, development and coaching, taking prompt action where necessaryEstablish clear direction, prioritize programs, assign and delegate responsibility and monitor the workflow of the Consumer DivisionBuild opportunities for Consumer Unit employees to suggest, participate in and contribute to improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing initiativesProvide guidance and ensure that the Consumer Unit complies with Omantel’s policies, processes, practices and systems
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Knowledge / Technical Skills
Deep knowledge of marketing management skillsDeep knowledge of financial management skillsDeep knowledge of telecommunications industryThorough understanding of Omani market
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a relevant fieldA minimum of 15+ years’ experience preferably in the telecom industry with at least 5 years in a leadership position within commercial fields
