With thick mud left behind by the flash floods and wadis still flowing strong, officials at Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority adv it is still dangerous to venture into the areas affected by Shaheen.
“South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah and Muscat continue to be dangerous because there is plenty of water around,” said a CDAA official to Observer.
Search is still on for one person in Al Amerat; in total, six people are still missing, till the time of reporting.
The government will fix the damages that have been caused by the current weather conditions. CDAA continued efforts and conducted rescue operations on Monday using trucks and helicopters to rescue stranded individuals left stranded on the path of Shaheen that was downgraded to a tropical depression by the time it was over Al Dhahirah.
“Until now, the rescue teams are helping people who are stuck on the roads and even wadis,” said the official.
This time it was not about people attempting to cross the wadis; instead, it was about water reaching the people as the stormy weather of Shaheen saw a complicated combination of flash floods and inundation. The biggest challenge was for the low lying areas.
The Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority received a number of reports in the governorate of North and South Al Batinah, and the search and rescue operations are still going on.
Communication continued to be a challenge in Suwaiq as roads and services were disrupted. The rescue team from CDAA in North Batinah Governorate successfully rescued people trapped in a vehicle in a wadi stream in the Wilayat of Suwaiq.
The CDAA team also managed to rescue a person who was stuck in his vehicle in the wadi of Wilayat of Bausher. He is reported to be in good health too.
Meanwhile, the team also managed to bring to safety two individuals who were trapped in their vehicle in the wadi of Al Amerat. However, some of the search and rescue operations found the victims dead.
“It is important for people not to venture unless it is urgent,” pointed out the official.
